Technical Support

Please contact Laurie Sidle if you are interested in volunteering with technical support

Sound Board

Being a soundboard volunteer requires you to come to the church at 9:00 AM to begin practice with those who are singing or playing instruments. Your responsibilities include getting mics to those who need them, testing battery life, and running the sound during the service.

Video

As a video volunteer, you will be asked to come about ten minutes before the service begins so that you are prepared to record the service in its entirety. Your responsibilities include recording the service, ensuring that the DVD is properly installed, and copying the service to a CD at the end of the service.

Screens

As a screens volunteer you will be asked to come at 9:00 AM to get screens set up before those singing and performing in the service arrive. Your responsibilities include getting all worship songs onto screens, putting screens in their proper order for the service, and running screens during the service.

Community

SERVE Meal

On the third Wednesday of every month from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, volunteers from church prepare and serve a free meal for the community of Shreve and beyond.  The free Serve meals were first provided some 18 years ago when Jane Alexander began organizing meals for the community. In 2009 Jody Wells and her sister Stephanie Stein took over the meal preparations. The Serve Meals were discontinued from the time of COVID until March of 2022 when Jody and Stephanie once again stepped in to prepare the meals.  Meals consist of a main dish, fruit/salad/vegetable, and dessert. Pasta nights, breakfast for dinner, Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas dinner, and simple Lenten soup meals (without dessert) add variety and a sense that special events are remembered and observed.

Jody prepares the Serve meals because of the opportunity it provides for her to give back to our community and the Shreve Community Church.  “There are so many opportunities in our day-to-day lives to serve when we open our hearts.  Jody said, “This is one way I feel I can be more like Jesus.  We were created to walk alongside God and participate with him in his plan.  Serving gives me a Godly purpose and challenges me to branch out and exercise my spiritual gifts.  Preparing and planning this monthly meal helps me fill a need and exercise my gifts of hospitality by feeding people.  Food is my love language.  The meal also provides a time of fellowship and connection between those in attendance”.  Jody said, “I could not do this without Steph.  She expends a great deal of time, effort, and energy into the serve meal.  We are a team”.

Stephanie said that she and Jody are on the same page.  “We decided we wanted to do it about 15 years ago.  In the beginning, it seemed more people came that were our parents' age.  The meal is for everybody and anybody. This is a time to be around people you know as well as an opportunity to meet others in the community and make a connection”.  Steph wants everyone to know that all are welcome. She does the meal because she is a local missions person.  Steph also finds satisfaction in being involved with the kids at Christmas time and takes part in the SCC Caring-and-Sharing project at Christmas.
